
What are thoughts ?
Thoughts are our own words which we continuously say in our mind. It is a kind of self talk. Thoughts are also the way we define a situation in our mind. Thoughts are our opinions on a particular topic. These opinions may be positive or negative.
How we think ?
We think on the basis of information we have. We cannot think if we don't have any information. Simply imagine, If you have never seen a watermelon, Can you think about it and describe it saying "it is outside green and inside red , it has seeds inside and it is oval in shape". If you have never tasted it, can you actually think how it taste like. So, Information is necessary to think. The type of thoughts we have is related with the type of information we have. For example, A doctor with a knowledge of medical field generally thinks the ways to treat a disease and about different medication where the automobile engineer thinks various ways to develop advance vehicles. Can you imagine a doctor thinking a car model and a engineer thinking about the medication process ? I think "You can't".
Types of thoughts
There are generally two kind of thoughts. They are positive thoughts and negative thoughts.
In simple language, Positive thoughts are the thoughts which makes you feel satisfied and comfortable or can keep you in ease where Negative thoughts are the thoughts which makes you feel unsatisfied and uncomfortable or not at ease which is simply called disease. So, Negative thoughts make you feel sick.
What are the causes of negative thoughts ?
The causes of negative thoughts are given below :
1. Wrong information
As I already mentioned, we cannot think without information and we think according to the information we have. Here, we are inserting negative information in our mind. Our social medias, web series, type of songs we listen, type of movies we watch have created a very huge impact in our thinking process. We are listening negative news like murders, rapes, thefts etc. and during this lockdown period only listening the total cases and total deaths of corona patients has highly increased the negativity in our mind which has directly increased the negative thoughts in our mind.
2.Overload of work
Overload of work increase the stress and anxiety in the body. The decisions and thoughts at that time are very unproductive. This overload leads to the sudden increase of thoughts in our mind and almost the thoughts are negative. When the body has no rest it has no good thinking process and the emotions flows in a very uncontrolled manner. The body and mind feels like shrinking due to stress and anxiety.
3. Consistent failures
We are in the era of progress and achievements. In this time when we face consistent failures instead of success, there is a strong possibility for a mood swing. Our confidence level completely falls down and we feel like we have no energy left for the next try. Our mind focuses the negative aspects of that work rather than the positive aspects. Thoughts related to the upcoming failures consistently move over our head which we call the negative thoughts. These thoughts are very harmful for us as they increase negativity and decrease the possibility of success.
4. Unreal desires
We all humans have various desires but can all the desires be fulfilled ? The answer is No. The commercial ads and the whole marketing system have planted different unreal desires inside us which never gets fulfilled. This lack of fulfillment again increase the negativity in the mind. For example, if a bald person by birth sees an commercial advertisement of hair growing oil, he/she would have the desire to buy the oil and grow the hair but the end results are so dissatisfying. In his moment of dissatisfaction, he only regrets and generate negative thoughts in the mind because his desires are unfulfilled. This is one of the main reason for increasing negative thoughts in people.
5. Frequently thinking bad past incidents
People do various wrong and shameful activities in their past and keep on thinking the same thing and regret. Not realizing the concept that "past is unchangeable" can cost them high. Our past is in our mind but our futures are in our hands. People keep on blaming themselves for their past activities and keep on generating negative thoughts in their mind.
6. Fear for future
Most of the people are always in the fear of their career, relationships and their goals. They keep on thinking these topics and reaches on such a thinking where they completely see the failures of their career, relationships and goals. They try to escape from these thoughts but the more they try to escape, the more they get stuck in their thoughts and it forms a unescapable loop.
7.No proper actions
Most of people nowadays just hang up and do not perform any work for their future progress. On one side, People keep on overperforming work, get stressed out and develop negative thinking and on the other side, they do nothing and keep on exploring unnecessary things and face different difficulties. You already know " An empty mind is a devil's workshop ".
8. No physical exercise
See, our body and mind are completely connected with each other. To the every action at our physical level will have the effect in our mental level. So, if you are not completely active at your physical level, how can you be active at your mental level. Now, when your mind becomes dull, it starts wandering around and get involved in something that is not good. This way negative thinking gets developed in a person.
9. Improper diet
Our mind acts on how it gets nourished. We are eating all oily and fatty foods whole day and we expect our body and mind to be in a good state. It is a complete nonsense. Eating only junk foods and non vegetarian diet can affect your mind performance and your mood which can directly increase negative thoughts in our mind.
10. Greed and jealousy
You can simply relate this with you. You compare yourself with others. You find others higher or lower than you. When you find others lower than you, you become greedy and when you find others higher than you, you become jealous. Now you start blaming yourself and others too on these situations. In this both state of greed and jealousy, you start developing unnecessary and negative thoughts in your mind.
In conclusion
Your thought process is highly dependable upon the environment around you. The things you see, you eat, you like all together form your thought process. Your mind does not distinguish what is right or what is wrong. It just accepts all the information inside it through the sense organs. So, receiving negative information cannot be stopped but prioritizing them can. If you prioritize the negative information, the thoughts will be negative but if you prioritize positive information, the thoughts will be positive.
