What is the procedure of dopamine detoxication for phone addiction ?
For dopamine detoxication, take a day in which you are completely free. On the previous day before going to bed, switch off your phone and lock your phone in a case. Inform your friends or relatives that you will not be using phone that day. Tell your family members to hide your phone somewhere secretly and say them not to return you the phone even if you ask for it but you may need your phone immediately due to some emergency so be aware of that too. Go to the bed early on the previous day to have a sound sleep for the next day and also for the preparation for the next day.
On the next day which is your day for the dopamine detox, simply wakeup and smile. Just say thanks to the god because you are alive and you will be surprised to know that millions of people who go to the bed at night are not alive to see the next morning. Yes, It's a fact. So, always thank the god and feel yourself a lucky person. Remember that you are not allowed to touch your phone that day. You are not allowed to do any work in which you are interested or excited or any work which you think you are addicted in. For your simplification, I will give you some examples.
Things not to do
1. No tea or coffee
2. No social media
3. No Party
4. No gifts, surprises and rewards
5. No smoking and alcohol
So, You will get very bored because when you will not perform any work of your interest then there will be no release of dopamine. Now, If you successfully completed the challenge and slept that day, You will complete your dopamine detoxication.
How to build new habits on the next day ?
Here's what happens now.
Your mind was running in the lack of dopamine on the previous day and your mind needs dopamine at any cost. So, It will start accepting any work you are doing and start releasing dopamine through that work. Once your mind start releasing dopamine through your necessary work, your mind will need the same work for the next dopamine release and also in a larger proportion because now your mind has recognized your work as a dopamine releasing medium. Now, This will help you to be motivated and interested towards your work and your addiction towards unnecessary things will also decrease slowly. You must have to repeat this process once in a week or month to completely change yourself and your addictions.
Keep in mind that you must do the necessary work first and then you can use your phone for sometime. I suggest you to make a proper daily routine for all your important works which will help you to be in track and make you honest and active towards your work. Are you convinced ?
